The school year in the Czech Republic is divided into two terms. The school year usually begins on the first week of September and finishes at the end of June. The summer school holidays occur in July and August – it is the main school holiday in the country and across Europe.

Czech Republic is divided into 14 regions – within each region, there are multiple counties (known also as okresy). Czech has a total of 76 counties. All counties share the same school holiday dates except for the spring holidays. The spring break is a one-week holiday that happens between the first week of February until the third week of March. The holiday is evenly distributed over 6 grouped counties and varies every year.

School holiday seasons are a popular time for families to travel. So, make sure to book your holiday plans including hotels and flights well in advance, so that you don’t miss out or pay a premium.
